2024 Stewarts Creek Track and Field Information

  

Transportation: Students and parents are responsible for timely transportation after practice and track meets in Rutherford County. Practice will end around 5:15 every day and they MUST be picked up by on time every day. Athletes who are picked up late 3 times will be removed from the team. Be sure to have rides arranged ahead of time.

 

Academic requirements: Students must be passing all classes in order to remain active on the team. One F will be a one meet suspension, 2 F’s and you will be removed from the team.

 

Absences: Students must notify the coaches beforehand if they are going to miss a practice. Practice is MANDATORY. Unexcused absences will result in removal from the team.
     
Weather: The weather at some of our competitions can be quite chilly. The relay teams must match per competition rules, if students wish to wear something under their jerseys to stay warm, it needs to be a black Under Armour/Dry Fit type of material.

 

Running Attire: We run at the high school track depending on the weather and events. Students will not be allowed to practice without proper running attire. Every day for practice athletes must bring proper attire for every type of weather including:
 
Running Shoes and Spikes
Shorts and Long Pants
T-shirt and Sweatshirt
Gloves and hats if necessary

100 Meter Hurdles
100 Meter Dash
4 x 200 Meter Relay
1600 Meter Run
4 x 100 Meter Relay
400 Meter Dash
800 Meter Run
200 Meter Dash
4 x 400 Meter Relay
*Girls go first in each event, then boys.
 
Season: Usual Meet Regulations and Info:
  • The gate fee is $5 for all sports including Track and Field (this goes for school aged children).
  • Athletes are only allowed to participate in up to 3 events total. (relays and field events included)
  • Athletes should go to the infield when the “first call” is given and check in. Do not go to the infield before that call is made.
  • Girls will begin all events followed by the boys.
  • False starts will be a disqualification.
  • In regular meets, the scoring will be: 8-6-4-2-1 for open events and 8-6-4-2 for relays. For the county meet, the scoring will be: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
  • Relay team athletes’ Under Armour must be black and the same length.
  • Athletes must stay in their lane until they are instructed to leave the track to avoid collisions. Impeding another runner is a disqualification.
  • Exchanging the baton outside of the exchange zone during a relay results in a disqualification.
  • There will be an automatic disqualification for throwing the baton as well as “show-boating” at the finish line.
  • Throwers must have appropriate weights for shot put and discus:
  • Discus: 1k for girls and boys
  • Shot Put: 2.744 kg or 6 lbs. for girls and 4 kg or 8.818 lbs. for boys.
  • Three attempts per thrower in each throwing event.
  • If an athlete jumps from two feet, they are disqualified. This applies to high jump and long jump.
  • The high jump will be moved up in 2 inch increments. Boys start at 4’6 and girls start at 4’2.
  • Each athlete will get three attempts at each height increment.
  • Each athlete will get three attempts for long jump.
  • Parents are not allowed in the infield unless it is required for their volunteer duty.
