2024-2025 Swim Information


Stewarts Creek Middle School Swim Team

Tryouts: 

  • * I would like for swimmers to come tryout again Wednesday, September 24th. Please try to have your swimmer there by 5:50 to change and be ready to enter pool at 6:00.
  • New swim roster will be posted Friday by 3:00 PM  
  •  Monday, September 23rd at Smyrna High School Pool 6:00 a.m.  All Paperwork and Physicals must be received and up to date in FinalForms prior to the tryout. Students are not allowed to tryout if this is not complete.  DO NOT PARK IN THE FRONT PARKING SPACES IN FRONT OF THE POOL. THEY ARE RESERVED FOR SHS TEACHERS. Your child may be suspended from the team if the person responsible for transportation cannot abide by this rule. 
  • TRYOUTS: The swimmer must be able to complete a 50M Freestyle (2 lengths of the pool down and back) swim without stopping to be on the Swim Team. If a swimmer cannot complete a 50M Freestyle swim without stopping, they will not be eligible to be on the Team. 

Practice Schedule 

  • Pool practice will officially start on Wednesday, September, 25th. We will practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 5:50 AM- 7:00 AM. Practice will take place at Smyrna High School. We will not practice during scheduled breaks or on any day school is cancelled/ delayed. Swimmers MUST BE picked up no later than 7:10. 
  • Mandatory equipment:  Suit, goggles, and swim cap.

  • We must have up-to-date sports physicals (dated after 4/15/24) before swimmers can begin practice with the team. 

Meet Schedule:

October 26th - Spooky Invitational at LaVergne High School 9:00

November 9th - Turkey Invitational at LaVergne High School 9:00

November 23rd - Winter Invitational at LaVergne High School 9:00

December 17th - Oakland High School

January 11th - LaVergne High School

January 25th - Middle TN Championship

February 1st - County Championship

 

Swimmer and Parent Expectation 

  • Since we have a limited number of pool days, every practice is important! An excused absence from school is an excused absence from practice. Unexcused absences will be watched closely. After 3 unexcused absences, the coach may determine whether suspension from the team is required. 
  • There is no transportation provided to or from the pool. It is the responsibility of the parent to arrange transportation. All swimmers must be picked up from SHS before 7:10 AM. After two late pickups, the swimmer may be suspended from the team. DO NOT PARK IN THE FRONT PARKING SPACES IN FRONT OF THE POOL. THEY ARE RESERVED FOR SHS TEACHERS. Your child may be suspended from the team if the person responsible for transportation cannot abide by this rule. 

Students will be responsible for purchasing their own team swimsuit and swim cap from Hunt Pools in Murfreesboro. Require gear: suit, cap, and goggles. 

  • Sizing for swimsuits will need to be completed TBA, at Hunt Pools & Swim located at 220 West Northfield Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37219. If you do not order your suit before October 22, your swimmer will not have swimsuits for the first competition. 

 

 

Financial Commitment:  Fee is used for any expenses associated with 2024-2025 swim and a SCMS Swim t-shirt for the swimmer.

  • Player fee: $100.00

Agreement Sheet 

Please read the following expectations or the team: 

  • Swimmers are to follow all school rules and expectations on our campus and others as they are representatives of the Creek community. School discipline policies apply at home and away. This includes maintaining a passing grade in all classes. Students can be held out of meets if they are not passing all classes. 
  • Swimmers must have transportation to and from practice and meet.  
  • Swimmers must be picked up from practice by 7:10 am.  
  • Swimmers must communicate inability to attend a meet two weeks prior. Extreme sickness or other emergencies will need to be communicated as soon as the swimmer is able. 
  • Swimmers are expected to be at all practices unless otherwise agreed upon with the coach. 
  • All dues must be paid before the swimmer can participate in a meet. 
  • Parents are not allowed on deck at practice; however, we hope to see you at all meets! 
  • Swimmers who fail to meet the aforementioned expectations are subject to suspension or expulsion from the team at the coach’s discretion.
