On Tuesday, May 15, we will host an instrument upgrade event in the SCMS Bandroom from 3:30 to 5:30. Representatives will be available to meet with you about upgrading your child’s instrument to an intermediate or professional model. The band directors will also be available to discuss the benefits your child will experience with a more advanced instrument.

The difference a more advanced instrument makes for a student is substantial. Most students start with a beginner instrument because those instruments are both easy to play and durable. With ongoing progress, a student’s musical abilities eventually surpass the capabilities of the beginner instrument. A more advanced instrument allows the musician to create a fuller and prettier tone, to play more in tune, and to play faster and more demanding music-in short, to play up the level of their musical ability.

Now is a wonderful time to take this step because stores are offering exceptional deals. Music and Arts is also offering to apply your rental payments towards the purchase of certain upgraded instruments if you turn in the rented instrument.
