Percussion Fest takes place Saturday, March 9, at Blackman Middle School. This is a REQUIRED event for all SCMS Percussionists that been on the band's calendar for several months. Additionally, the SCMS Percussion Ensemble (all 7th and 8th grader members) will perform!

The headline clinician is Mr. Jim Riley, drummer and band leader for Rascal Flats! Throughout the day, students will participate in experience-specific clinics for snare drum, mallets, and drum set. Several performances will take place and door prizes are given out throughout the day. Here are the details for the day:

Attire:
Grade 6 - Nice School Clothes
Grades 7, 8 - Band Shirt, Band Jacket, Jeans

What to Bring:
Stick bag with mallets and drum sticks
Practice pad w/stand
7th and 8th graders may be asked to take additional equipment needed for the percussion ensemble performance.

Registration:
$5 Registration Fee
$5 For Pizza Lunch (students may also opt to bring their own)
Payment is made upon arrival to BMS.

Schedule:
8:00AM - Registration begins

9:00AM - Meet in auditorium/ 1st door prizes

9:15AM - Mallet master classes begin (35 minutes, 10 minutes for visits and travel)

10:00AM - Snare master classes begin (35 minutes, 10 minutes for visits and travel)

10:45AM - Drum set master classes begin (45 minutes max)

11:30AM - Lunch in large cafeteria/2nd door prizes (40 minutes)

12:15AM - Edward Freytag/William Ellis Clinic in small cafeteria

1:00PM - Ensemble performances in the auditorium (8 groups) - parents are welcome to attend!

2:15PM possibly 2:30PM - Jim Riley clinic/performance

3:00PM possibly 3:30PM- 3rd Door prizes
