Hello and Welcome to my class!

I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade students throughout my day with a differing focus for each class. The 1 common in all classes is Motivation Mondays and Success Thursdays.

8th Grade: The focus in this class is to begin looking toward your future! We begin with introduction to ACT Prep and Testing Strategies, college and career research, learning trades, and the military. We also began to introduce media last year and the plan is to expand into Video production.

A great resource for ACT is www.act.org or www.actstudent.org
       Assignment #1: Spend some time taking Virtual Tours of Colleges and Universities on the website:  https://www.youvisit.com/collegesearch/
Did you find a favorite? What is it? Why is your favorite? Research to find out if anyone famous earned their degree there. Who was it? Email me your responses, please.

7th Grade: My 7th Grade class will be a PBL (Project Based Learning) style primarily focused on mathematics and science.  We will use an engineering conceptual approach to discover everyday applications of mathematics that people use in life.  Students will complete projects on their own, with partners, in groups or even as a whole class.

6th Grade: This class focuses on Digital Citizenship, using Common Sense online curriculum.
A great resource is www.commonsense.org  Students can explore activities, games, lessons, etc.
Today's students are growing up in a digital world. Students will study internet safety, digital health, the power of social media, social media influencers, bullying/cyberbullying, internet commerce to name a few.

Grading:

Classwork = 60%
Assessments = 40%

I DO NOT give Retakes. Students are given the Opportunity to improve any Assessment grade by making corrections and can earn up to 1/2 the points missed back for their final grade.
I DO NOT give Homework.  All classwork and assignments will be completed in class. IF a student does not complete their work in the allotted class time, the student may complete the work outside of the classroom and turn it in for a grade.
