Hello and welcome to my students and parents!  My name is Richard Shaver and I will be teaching 8th grade science this year.  I would like to share a little about me.  I am beginning my 30th year of teaching.  I enjoy working with students and sharing what I know with your child about science and occasionally life.  I believe the key to student learning success is building meaningful relationships with both students and parents, so parents, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you ever have questions or concerns.  I would like to highly recommend that you check your child's Skyward account at least once per week.  Mistakes do happen so if you notice that I have made a mistake just send me and email and I will look into the situation and make any necessary corrections.  Parents should have access to their child's Skyward account.  If you are having difficulty with anything related to grades, just let me know and I will do what I can to help or get you to someone who can assist you.  You can always find assignments on Schoology.  I will be posting what we are doing weekly.  Use this in case you have a sick child.  Note that at times, some items might not get posted in Schoology until the morning that they are being used.  We do modify and change plans based on classroom needs.  

If you need assistance with your login information, visit or call our front office at (615)904-6700.  You can also access your Office 365 account by going to the SCMS website.  Use the parent or student tab and click on office365.  You will be prompted to enter your username and password which for students is the same as your computer login at school.
