Sketchbook Assignments

2023-2024

The following ten assignments will be due in your sketchbook by the end of the 9 weeks.  Do not wait till week 8 to start them. When you finish a project with time left in class, work on sketches.

The sketch assignments should show you have put adequate time and effort into the work.  Number in the top right hand corner the # from below on the sketch so I will be able to identify it.

The sketchbook will count as 3 project grades.  This is a very important part of art class. Bring your sketchbook to class every day.  Sketchbooks can be left in my classroom or you can be responsible to bring it.

There will be other things such as:  class notes, foldables, N2K writings and pictures that will be required in your sketchbook.  I will list on our class board exactly what is expected in the sketchbook as we cover them.  But for now, you know these 10 sketches are expected, and they are the majority of the sketchbook grade.

              1.   draw any fruit or vegetable sliced open
              2.   draw a cartoon strip (at least 4 panels)
              3.   draw a mythical creature
              4.   draw something you are afraid of
              5.   draw an insect
              6.   draw something showing asymmetrical balance
              7.   draw your favorite animal at the zoo
              8.   draw something that shows form (no boxes/cubes)
              9.   draw a stream or creek with several interesting things hidden nearby (can be realistic or unrealistic)
             10.   divide the page into 6 sections- draw an eye, use numbers, use letters, a line design, a natural object, then whatever you want in the last section.

One will need to be finished in watercolors.

For each sketch, the whole page should be filled.  Use shading techniques.  Don’t forget to number them.  They do not have to be in order.
