Art Sketchbook - Students need an 8x10 or 9x12 size sketchbook

For each art class, a 9 weeks sketchbook is required.  I have recycled sketchbooks to give if your child needs one.

This is a very important project.  It counts as 3 project grades.  The students have 9 weeks to complete this , with several days given in class to work on it.

SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS

2023-2024

The following 10 assignments will be due in your sketchbook by the end of the 9 weeks.  Do not wait till week 8 to start them. When you finish a project with time left in class, work on sketches.

Each sketch assignment should show you have put in adequate time and effort into the work.  Number each in the top right-hand corner of the page, corresponding to the sketch below. This allows me to properly identify your work.

The sketchbook will count as 3 project grades.  This is a very important part of art class.  Bring your sketchbook to class daily.  Sketchbooks can be left in my classroom, or you can be responsible to bring it daily.

There will be other things required in the sketchbook, such as:  class notes, foldables, N2K. writings and pictures.  I will list on the class board exactly what is expected in the sketchbook as we cover them.  But for now, you know these 10 sketches are expected, and they are the majority of the sketchbook grade.

  1.         draw any fruit or vegetable sliced open
  2.         draw a cartoon strip (at least 4 panels)
  3.         draw a mythical creature
  4.         draw something you are afraid of
  5.         draw an insect
  6.         draw something showing asymmetrical balance
  7.         draw your favorite animal at the zoo
  8.         draw something that shows form (no boxes/cubes)
  9.         draw a stream or creek with several interesting things hidden nearby (can be realistic or unrealistic)
  10.        divide the page into 6 sections- draw an eye, use numbers, use letters, a line design, a natural object, then whatever you want in the last section.

Choose one sketch to be finished in watercolors.

For each sketch, the whole page should be filled.  Use shading techniques.  Don’t forget to number them.  They do not have to be in order.
