Then, we used the Snipping Tool to submit our work for our Random Number President assignment. For this assignment, you're randomly given a number (check your email) and that is the number of the president that you have to find an interesting, little-known fact about. Use a search engine to look up information about your president. When you think you've found something interesting, use the Snipping Tool to capture an image. Use the pen or highlighter in the Snipping Tool to bring attention to the fact you found. Paste the screenshot into a reply to the email Coach Cron sent with everyone's number to complete this assignment. March 14 - We typically won't do 3 CODE lessons in a week and usually not on back-to-back days, however, you need to get to CODE (access via Clever) and begin working on Lesson 3: Collecting Treasure with Laurel. If/when you finish Lesson 3, spend a few minutes at (www.typing.com) on the Beginner Module.

March 13 - Today we're back in CODE. Remember, we access our Code lessons through Clever (you probably have to go to my Teacher Page). October 20 - Today we learned about proper email etiquette. We watched this YouTube video over email etiquette. It is meant to be a bit satirical, but it makes excellent points about email etiquette. Then, we had to send Coach Cron an email with the following:
  1. Subject line that says: Beginning Email, About Me
  2. Salutation: Good afternoon,
  3. In the body, tell me 3 things that we discussed (or was in the video above) about email etiquette and 3 things about yourself. These need to be complete sentences.
  4. Closing: Thanks,
  5. Your name - first last
October 19 - No school for students

October 18 - Typing Test 1! Get into (www.typing.com) and take a few 1-minute practice tests to warm up. We'll discuss the grading scale and procedures. Then, we went into our accounts by clicking on our name and created usernames and passwords so that we could access our accounts easier. Then, you had time to finish lesson 1: "Programming with Angry Birds" and start Lesson 2: "Debugging in Maze". If you complete Lesson 2, go to Create, then Dance Party and create a unique Dance Party!

Quarter 1

September 26-29 - You have time to continue working on your State PowerPoint, the Advanced Module (www.typing.com) and any other late/missing work you need to complete before the end of the quarter (September 29).

September 25 - It's our last week of Q1! Today we begin our final major work: United States Presentation. In this project, you're assigned a state that you have to research and build a PowerPoint presentation over. All of the instructions for what must be included are on the Documents & Assignments page. This is not due until the end of class on Thursday, so take your time. Quality work is expected.

September 22 - Falcon Flight!

September 21 - Typing Test! Get into (www.typing.com) and take a few 1-minute tests to warmup! After, we'll be working in Canva again, but this time using the Flyer Maker. Today, you need to create (from scratch) a unique flyer that highlights tomorrow's Falcon Flight. You can do Falcon Flight in general or focus on some game/event like dodgeball, archery, Kona Ice, inflatables, the DJ, etc. Make sure you save it to the shared Falcon Flight Flyer folder when you're done.

September 20 - Today we had Roll a Story 2. You need to complete this in Microsoft Word. Your story needs to be at least 3 paragraphs and each paragraph needs to have at least 4 sentences. Share it with Coach Cron when you're done. If you're absent, the prompts for this Roll a Story can be found on the Documents & Assignments page - you can pick one from each column. After, complete late/missing work and work on the next typing module in (www.typing.com).

September 18 - Today you have time to work on any late/missing assignments you might have. A number of people are not yet done with the Intermediate Module and a number (www.code.org) lessons. Coach Cron put zeros into Skyward today, so you might want to take a look at your grade. Finally, if you have everything complete, work on the Advanced Module.

September 15 - Today, get into (www.code.org) and work on Lesson 10: Loops with Rey and BB-8. After, make sure you have the Intermediate Module complete (due at the end of class) and begin working on the Advanced Module.

September 14 - Typing Test! Get into (www.typing.com) and take a few 1-minute tests to warm up. After our Typing Test, you'll receive an email from Coach Cron with directions on how to complete today's assignment: Random Number Athlete. This won't take too long, so after, get into (www.typing.com) and make sure you have the Intermediate Module complete - it is due at the end of class tomorrow!

Make sure you save it to the shared folder in Canva. Then, make sure you don't have any other late or missing work. If you have everything done, spend a few minutes working on the Intermediate Module.

For this project, you are to use the Brochure maker in Canva to create a tri-fold brochure for a State or National Park of your choice. There are more directions on the Documents & Assignments page - follow them closely. This project should take 2-3 days in class to complete.

September 5 - We began today by taking last week's Typing Test. So, we got into (www.typing.com), got to the Tests page and took a few 1-minute tests to warm-up. After our Typing Test, we worked in Canva (get to Canva via Clever). In Canva, we worked with the Poster Maker to make an educational poster for this computer class. Your poster can be over any of the things we do in this class: typing technique, proper posture, coding/computer science, Internet safety, or any of the other things we work on and learn about.

September 1 - Today you had time to complete your late/missing work. Many of us have something that we need to finish and turn in. Remember, for older assignments, you must send me a screenshot of your work via email. If you don't have any missing assignments (including the Beginner Module), then you will spend the first 20 minutes of class working on the Intermediate Module. Coach Cron will let you know what to do after that.

August 31 - Today we did an Internet Scavenger Hunt. The 7th grade version can be found on the Documents & Assignments page. Use a search engine and other resources to find the answers to the questions. Email your answers, in a numbered list, to Coach Cron.

August 30 - Today we did Lesson 8: Virtual Pet in Sprite Lab at (www.code.org). After, if you have time, make sure you don't have any missing assignments, then spend a few minutes working on the Intermediate Module.

August 29 - Today we learned about the Snipping Tool. We watched this YouTube video that shows how to use the Snipping Tool and its features.

August 28 - Today we worked in (www.code.org) again on Lesson 7: Sprites in Action. This is where the code begins to get a bit more complicated with the introduction of events. We watched the introductory video together for this lesson.

August 25 - Today we had our first Timed Typing Test. You are to get into (www.typing.com) and take a few 1-minute tests to practice/warmup. The grading scale was explained as well as our procedure for taking the timed tests. After, you had time to complete other missing/late work and to finish the Beginner Module.

You'll see how that goes in class. For your story, you need to write at least 3 paragraphs with at least 4 sentences each. Many of you will do more than that and that's great! Write your story in Microsoft Word and share it with me when you're finished. If your absent, you can see the prompts on the Documents & Assignments page - pick your own.
