Save your work to the shared Poster Folder (in Canva) when you're done.

April 9 - Today we did a CODE lesson called Data Visualization. You received an email from Coach Cron with a digital handout that you are to complete as you move through the lesson (we will work through and pace the lesson together). Use a search engine to look up information about your president. When you think you've found something interesting, use the Snipping Tool to capture an image. Use the pen or highlighter in the Snipping Tool to bring attention to the fact you found. Paste the screenshot into a reply to the email Coach Cron sent with everyone's number to complete this assignment. After, you had time to complete Logos in Canva (yesterday), incomplete CODE lessons, and work on the Beginner Module at (www.typing.com).

March 19 - First, you need to reply to the email I sent you. The directions for the reply are in the email. Then, we are going to work in Canva. You need to get to Clever and from there you should be able to find Canva. First, once you're in Canva, check in the top left corner. There should be a box that says Stewarts Creek Middle School. If you see a different school, click on the drop arrow and change it to SCMS. Then, hover over Design Spotlight and find Logo. Today we're going to use the Logo maker to design a logo for something you're involved in here at school, then a logo for something that you do/enjoy outside of school. Toward the end of class, we discussed how to save it to the correct folder in Canva.

You'll see how that goes in class. For your story, you need to write at least 3 paragraphs with at least 4 sentences each. Many of you will do more than that and that's great! Write your story in Microsoft Word and share it with me when you're finished. If your absent, you can see the prompts on the Documents & Assignments page - pick your own.

October 23 - Today we are going to work in Canva. Canva has a share button, so share your work with Coach Cron.

October 20 - Today we learned about proper email etiquette. We watched this YouTube video over email etiquette. It is meant to be a bit satirical, but it makes excellent points about email etiquette. Then, we had to send Coach Cron an email with the following:
  1. Subject line that says: Beginning Email, About Me
  2. Salutation: Good afternoon,
  3. In the body, tell me 3 things that we discussed (or was in the video above) about email etiquette and 3 things about yourself. These need to be complete sentences.
  4. Closing: Thanks,
  5. Your name - first last
October 19 - No school for students

October 18 - Typing Test 1! Get into (www.typing.com) and take a few 1-minute practice tests to warm up. We'll discuss the grading scale and procedures. After, we're going to do a Shapes Activity in Microsoft Word. There are more instructions on the Documents & Assignments page, but basically, you're going to insert shapes to create a scene or picture of some kind. When you finish, share your work with Coach Cron. Finally, if you have time remaining, continue working through the Beginner Module. You should be nearing completion.

October 17- Today you had time to finish yesterday's WordArt assignment if you didn't yesterday. Remember to share it with me when you're done. Then, today, we worked on the Beginner Module in (www.typing.com). Make sure the Tech Readiness Module is complete.

October 16 - Today we had another assignment using Microsoft Word - remember to open up Word, the program, on the computer itself, NOT the web-based version from Office 365. Today's assignment is called WordArt and the directions can be found on the Documents and Assignments page (link at bottom of red box <--). Today, you will use the Share button at the top right corner of Word to share your work with Coach Cron.

October 13 - First, you need to reply to the email I sent you. The directions for the reply are in the email. Then, you had time to finish the Tech Readiness Module in (www.typing.com). Once that is complete, then you should begin working on the Beginner Module that you now have access to.

October 12 - Today we discussed proper posture when working on a computer and typing technique. We watched two short YouTube videos and discussed them. Then, you had time to continue working on the Tech Readiness Module (www.typing.com) or finish your Word Dinosaur from Monday.

October 11 - Today we created our (www.typing.com) accounts and joined our class. You received an email from me at the start of class with a link. When you click on the link, you'll be asked to use an existing account or create a new one. If you have an account already, you may use it. You should only use this link one time (today). If you use it again, you'll duplicate in the class and lose your progress. Once you're in, you should begin working on the Tech Readiness Module.

October 10 - To begin today, get back into your Word Dinosaur. If you saved it properly yesterday, you should be able to open up Word and find it in your recent files. You should finish the first dinosaur, then look at page 20 of the instructions. Create the other 2 dinosaurs - be creative with the colors, then see if you can give your dinosaurs some background! When you finish let Coach Cron take a look at your work.

October 9 - Today we discussed classroom procedures and expectations in class. Then, we got logged into the computers, checked our student email, and learned about the school and class website. Then, we began working on our first assignment in Microsoft Word - "Word Dinosaur". The directions for this can be found on the Documents and Assignments page (link in red box <--).

September 15 - Today, get into (www.code.org) and work on the Disney Infinity Play Lab lesson. In this lesson you'll learn how to use block code to move and interact with Disney characters. After, make sure you have the Intermediate Module complete (due at end of class) and begin working on the Advanced Module.

There are more directions on the Documents & Assignments page - follow them closely. This project should take 2-3 days in class to complete.

September 5 - We began today by taking last week's Typing Test. So, we got into (www.typing.com), got to the Tests page and took a few 1-minute tests to warm-up. After our Typing Test, we worked in Canva (get to Canva via Clever). In Canva, we worked with the Poster Maker to make an educational poster for this computer class. Your poster can be over any of the things we do in this class: typing technique, proper posture, coding/computer science, Internet safety, or any of the other things we work on and learn about.

September 1 - Today you had time to complete your late/missing work. Many of us have something that we need to finish and turn in. Remember, for older assignments, you must send me a screenshot of your work via email. If you don't have any missing assignments (including the Beginner Module), then you will spend the first 20 minutes of class working on the Intermediate Module. Coach Cron will let you know what to do after that.

August 31 - Today we got into our accounts at (www.code.org) for the first time. The first module we'll work through is called "Coding Interactive Maps". August 29 - Today we learned about the Snipping Tool. We watched this YouTube video that shows how to use the Snipping Tool and its features. Then, we used the Snipping Tool to submit our work for our Random Number President assignment. For this assignment, you're randomly given a number (check your email) and that is the number of the president that you have to find an interesting, little-known fact about.

August 28 - Today you will complete our first Internet Scavenger Hunt. For an Internet Scavenger Hunt, you will use a search engine, like Google, to search for the answers to the questions provided. The questions can be found on the Documents & Assignments page. Type up your answers in an email to Coach Cron. Remember to follow the email etiquette that we discussed last week.
